The mission of Ptolemy is to serve as a vehicle for a diverse range of people to enjoy Carnival Memphis and thereby uphold and perpetuate its traditions. Ptolemy strives to present an array of festive events during Carnival week and present community service opportunities throughout the year. Since our inception in 2000, we've raised the bar on fun, as well as over $4.5 million for local children's charities through the Carnival Memphis Children’s Charity Initiative!

2024 Carnival Children’s Charities
The Grand Krewe of Ptolemy is committed to furthering the goals and ideals of Carnival Memphis. We are dedicated to giving back to the Memphis community through our philanthropic activities and support of Carnival Memphis Children’s Charities.
We fully support the children’s charities chosen each year by participating in Carnival’s Krewes for Kids event and hosting two annual fundraisers: Poker Run in the Fall and Bingo in January. Our Philanthropy Chair also sets up various volunteer and charity opportunities for our members throughout the year.
Binghampton Christian Academy, is a private, Christian day and boarding school that serves the Binghampton community. Our mission is to develop students who honor and glorify God, promote spiritual and academic excellence, and encourage them to become productive, Godly leaders.
Girls Inc. of Memphis serves more than 2,000 girls between the ages of 5 and 18 through in-school, after school and camp programs. Over 500 hours of quality programming is provided at no cost to participants. Girls Inc. of Memphis inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
Church Health is a faith-based health care not-for-profit that believes in caring for one another as we’d all like to be cared for. They commit every day to making the highest quality health care accessible to more Memphians—especially those facing social and economic challenges—so we can all live our lives with dignity, vitality and joy.
Ptolemy Membership
Ptolemy's members represent all facets of Memphis: medicine, law, accounting and finance, politics, insurance and real estate, banking, manufacturing, marketing and sales. The list goes on and on, but Ptolemy's dual missions of social and community service are the cornerstone of its existence.
